Wayne Coombes (Station Officer)

A notification from the Assistant Commissioner Greater Brisbane Region;
It is with great sadness that I advise the passing of retired Station Officer Wayne Coombes on 14 April 2025.
Wayne commenced his firefighting career in Brisbane on 14 January 1974 and in 2010 and 2011 undertook the role of Safety Assessment Officer, Kemp Place. Wayne served much of his career in Brisbane North, predominantly at Arana Hills Fire and Rescue Station until his compulsory
retirement on 22 September 2017.
Wayne was awarded the National Medal in 1990 and first and second clasp in 2012, and the Diligent and Ethical Services Medal along with first, second and third clasps in 2015.
Wayne’s family have respectfully advised that his funeral service will be a private family event. The family will consider a celebration of Wayne’s life at a later date.
