A notification from the Assistant Commissioner, Greater Brisbane Region
It is with sadness that I advise of the loss of retired Station Officer John Barker who passed away on 26 August 2026.
John commenced his firefighting career on 25 September 1972 and served for 17 years until his retirement on 23 September 1989.
John was awarded the National Medal in 1990.
John’s funeral service will be held as follows:
Date: Friday, 4 September 2026
Time: 1330hrs
Place: Garden Chapel, Albany Creek Memorial Park and Crematorium, 400 Albany Creek Road, Bridgeman Downs.
