A notification from the Assistant Commissioner, Greater Brisbane Region
It is with great sadness that I advise of the loss of retired Station Officer Alan Tapsall, who passed away on 24 May 2026.
Alan commenced his firefighting career on 1 October 1956, serving in Brisbane, attaining the rank of Station Officer. Alan retired on 19 October 1996 after serving his community for 40 years.
Alan was awarded the National Medal in 1992 and the First and Second clasps.
Alan’s funeral service will be held as follows:

Time: Midday
Place: T.S Burstow Chapel
1020 Ruthven Street
Toowoomba
Dress: Senior Officers – Tunic and Medals.
Station Officers and Firefighters – cap, tie and medals
(No baseball caps)
