It is with great sadness that I advise of the loss of a former colleague, Senior Firefighter Frederick (Fred) Bellert, who passed away on 20 October 2025.
Fred commenced his firefighting career on 6 September 1971 and retired as Senior Firefighter on 4 April 2000 after serving the Brisbane community for almost thirty years. During his career, Fred was awarded the National Medal in 1990 and First Clasp in 1997.
Fred’s family respectfully advised that his service will be a private event however, a memorial service will be held at St Peter’s Anglican Church, 10 Banya Street, Bongaree on Monday 3 November 2025 at 10:30am.
On behalf of Queensland Fire and Rescue, I extend my deepest sympathies and sincere condolences to Fred’s wife Lyn and his family, friends and former colleagues.
