International Firefighters’ Day
When: 4th May 2026
Today is International Firefighters’ Day, which was introduced in 1999. It falls on the feast day of St. Florian, the Patron of Firefighters, and is observed to honour and appreciate the bravery and sacrifices of firefighters worldwide. The day’s origin can be traced to a tragic event that occurred in Victoria in 1998.
